ReefTracker is an offline-first reef-aquarium tracking app for Android and iOS. This page covers how to get help, report a problem, or ask a question.
New to the app, or wondering what a feature does? The illustrated ReefTracker User Guide walks through every screen – from your first aquarium to dosing calculators, connected devices, Wall display, ICP imports and backups.

Please include your device model, OS version, and app version (found in Settings → About), and steps to reproduce if you're reporting a bug. If something went wrong inside the app, Settings → About → Share diagnostics hands you a small text file of the errors it recorded on your device – attaching it makes a problem far easier to track down. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you share it yourself.
No ReefTracker account or sign-up is required. Your tanks, readings and settings are stored locally. Copies leave the device only when you export them or enable backup to your own Google Drive or iCloud Drive. See the privacy policy for details.
The core of the app is free to use with up to two aquariums. ReefTracker Pro adds unlimited tanks and the power features marked PRO in the feature overview – dosing calculators, smart insights, ICP and Hanna imports, cloud backup – Google Drive on Android, iCloud Drive on iOS (the automatic upload is the Pro part; the first restore onto a new device never is) – connected-device live reading, Wall display, and more. If you installed the app before the Pro tier existed, every feature that existed at that point stays free for you forever.
Use Settings → Backup & Restore to export a backup file (via the share sheet) and import it again on the same or a new device. The same section also offers optional automatic cloud backup – Google Drive on Android, iCloud Drive on iOS.
On iPhone, ReefTracker backs up to iCloud Drive instead of Google Drive. Switch it on in the same Settings → Backup & Restore section and the app's automatic backups are uploaded to a visible "ReefTracker" folder in your iCloud Drive, which you can browse in the Files app – an upload is skipped when nothing has changed since the last one, and a backup you export yourself through the share sheet is never uploaded. There is no account to set up in the app – your device's Apple ID is used. When another of your devices has uploaded a newer backup, the app offers to restore it at launch, and on a fresh install you can pull everything back from iCloud straight from the welcome screen – no Pro needed for that first restore.
The microelements import supports Fauna Marin and ATI (ZIMS) CSV exports, including all 49 results in a complete Fauna Marin ZIMS analysis, plus Fauna Marin and Oceamo PDF analysis reports. If a report imports incorrectly, email a copy of the report file along with which lab produced it, and we'll look into adding or fixing support for that format.
The Hanna checker connection and the checker display scan are experimental features: switch them on from the first-run welcome screen or later in Settings → Experimental. They are described in the user guide's importing section.
Enable experimental features from the first-run welcome screen or in Settings → Experimental. A fifth Devices destination then appears in the bottom navigation bar; it is no longer in the Measurements overflow menu. If a Wi-Fi device is unreachable, make sure the phone and equipment are on the same non-guest network, then use + → Scan network to find a changed address. See the connected-devices guide.
Open Settings → Wall display → Start now. You can configure its cards, refresh rate, page timing, night dimming and optional auto-start on the same page. It works on a phone, but is designed for a tablet; version 1.3.2 is native on Android tablets while the current App Store target is iPhone. See the Wall display guide.
Check that notifications are allowed for ReefTracker in your device's system settings, and that the specific reminder (testing, dosing, or maintenance) is enabled for the relevant tank. Some manufacturers' battery-optimization settings can also delay or suppress scheduled notifications – allowing ReefTracker to run unrestricted in the background usually fixes this.
You can delete individual tanks, readings, or other entries directly in the app. Uninstalling the app removes all of its local data from your device. See the privacy policy for details.
